The following
Exploratory Groups kept
active throughout 2006:
SM(EG32) Smart
actuators for aerodynamic
surfaces of devices.
SM(EG33) Methods
for mass estimation for
composite airframes.
SM(EG34) Automated
Composites Fabrication.
The
GoR is continuously exploring potential themes for possible new
Exploratory
Groups.
Several
interesting and promising
topics were discussed by the GoR members and their potential for
possible
GARTEUR collaborative programmes has been thoroughly examined.
At present, topics include:

Nano-technology.
·
Morphing wing.
·
Bonded repairs.
·
New design
philosophie on metallic
airframes.
·
Life
extension in metallics
aircrafts.
For these
topics presentations have been given during the GoR meetings. For a
number of
them, a layout for an Exploratory Group is written by one of the GoR
members.
Other topics remain on the list as a ‘technology watch’ subject.
